Most Instagrammable places in Tenerife, Spain

Tenerife is without any doubt a paradise of outdoor activities. Swimming, surfing, snorkeling, hiking, this place has it all. With such a vast landscape formed by its micro-climates, this island never stops to amaze with its unspoiled beauty. Today I want to share with you the 7 most Instagrammable places in Tenerife, Spain.

Playa de las Teresitas

Playa de las Teresitas is the best tourist beach you can find in Tenerife. Super large beach with palm trees, fine golden sand, and azure blue water – las Teresitas brings out the tropical vibe of the island. Guarded by the Anaga mountains in the back, this beach offers numerous Instagrammable spots. Sunrise is the best time to photograph the colorful houses of San Andres, but mid-day is perfect for capturing the beach from above. The viewpoint is pretty easy to find. Exit the parking lot and drive up the windy Ctra. Igueste de San Andrés till you see an abandoned building on your right. No worries – you may leave your car there for a couple of minutes and take advantage of the stunning sights!

Teide Volcano

If you thought visiting Teide National Park (official website here) is only about climbing on top of the volcano, well, think again. The whole drive to the cable car is an amazing experience itself! You’ll want to pull over every other minute to get in touch with the mesmerizing landscape around you. Former eruptions and years of wind and water erosion shaped this place in such an unique way. Fields of black solidified magma, ravines, rock formations such as the Roques de García are just a few of the geological wonders of this place.

Los Gigantes

A black sand beach with giant rock formations that rise from the sea – that’s every passionate photographer’s dream. I’d recommend going around the golden hour as the sunlight isn’t that harsh and the mist around the “giants” fades away.
Extra tip: Seems like there is also a beautiful natural pool nearby, so make sure you don’t miss it (like we did).

Masca Valley

Masca Valley is so perfectly illustrating Tenerife’s fascinating natural diversity! Here you get mountains, ravines, palm trees, cactuses, and a glimpse of the sea, all in one. Tiny as it is, this cozy village is just unbelievably photogenic. The sweet spot in matters of timing the trip to Masca is morning until noon when the sun shines above the valley.

Should you wish to discover more of the lush green landscapes the island has to offer, drive to Anaga Park on the eastern side – you’ll find equally impressive views, as well as loads of trekking and hiking routes.

La Orotava

The charming town of La Orotava displays the authentic Spanish colonial style in many iconic, beautiful buildings. Guess you’ll particularly enjoy the beautifully carved wooden balconies and interior courtyards. Take a stroll on the streets in the old town – there are endless photo opportunities at every corner!

Playa Diego Hernández

We only found out about this hidden gem from a local friend – born and raised on the island. Getting to the beach takes a 15-20 minutes walk, but the trail is easy and suitable for everyone. Although there are no direction signs, there is a clear path to follow so you can’t get lost. You will also meet people jogging in the area and a bunch of super friendly cats. On your way to Diego Hernandez beach, you’ll pass by Playa de los Morteros, another Instagrammable spot.
We got to the beach early in the morning and there were a few people camping on the beach. Other than that, this is by no means a touristic beach so you may be lucky enough to own it for the day. We were even more surprised to find out this is a nudist-friendly beach, so try not to be too intrusive with your camera.

Charco de la Laja

Love, love, love this place. Whatever you do, don’t miss this natural pool! Last on the list but actually my favorite out of all Instagrammable places in Tenerife. Come here in the morning to have this unspoiled beauty all for yourself. Unlike other natural pools in Tenerife, this one was 100% conceived by mother nature. No man-made support walls or wave breaker pillars around it. However, the clearest, serene, and calm waters are there to dive in! Also worth mentioning, this pool felt perfectly safe.

So here they are, 7 epic, super photogenic, Instagrammable places in Tenerife that no one should miss, Instagram lover or not. Don’t forget to keep an eye on our itineraries section. Tenerife itinerary article is coming soon to help you plan the perfect trip effortlessly.
