Thailand 2 weeks itinerary for first timers

This article is a summary. After reading the current post you should have an idea about your options in Thailand and be able to plan your trip straight away. Thailand is amazing, beautiful, crazy, we all know it! So let’s find out more!

Day 1-5 : Bangkok

Accomodation: Admiral Suites Bangkok 180€/2p/4nights

Day 1: Nana Plaza and Sow Cowboy

Land in Bangkok. Have a first contact with Sukhumvit area and the crazy atmosphere in Nana Plaza and Sow Cowboy in the evening.

Day 2: Grand Royal Palace, Wat Ratchapradit and Wat Pho, Erawan Shrine, China Town

Visit the Grand Royal Palace and learn more about the Buddhist culture in a few other great temples like Wat Ratchapradit and Wat Pho; head towards Siam Square, watch the religious ceremonies at Erawan Shrine; Take a walk through Lumphini Park and then spend the evening with a perfect view by the infinity pool at SO Sofitel. End the day trying not to get lost in the packed China Town. Test your stomach eating all sorts of strange stuff!

Day 3: Ayuttahaya trip

Make a day trip to the old capital city of Ayuttahaya. Come back to Bangkok after sunset and have a walk around Patpong Night Market.

Day 4: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Amphawa Floating Market and Maeklong Railway Market

Have an early start towards Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Afterwards, continue to the less-known Amphawa Floating Market and then find your way to the famous Maeklong Railway Market. Yep, there’s a train driving THROUGH the market! :). Eventually, turn back to Bangkok for an evening shopping session at Chatuchak.

Day 5: Wat Arun

Jump on a cruise on Chao Phraya River and visit the Temple of Dawn – Wat Arun. Don’t miss your afternoon flight to Krabi!

Day 6 -12 : Krabi

Accomodation: Maleedee Bay Resort Ao Nang 370€/2p/7nights

Day 6: Ao Nang beach

Relax after five busy days in the capital. Get to know the town and spend the whole day at the beach in Ao Nang.

Day 7: Phi Phi Islands, Ko Poda, Ko Kai, Maya Bay and Bamboo island

Full day guided boat trip to Phi Phi Islands with different stops like Ko Poda, Ko Kai(Chicken Island), Maya Bay and Bamboo island – lots of swimming and snorkeling!

Day 8: Railay beach

Railay beach – kayaking, viewpoint hike and rock climb, Phra Nang Cave Beach

Day 9: Half-day trip to Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi

Get ready to climb 1260 stairs to this buddhist temple and see Krabi from above. Make sure you spot the monkeys!

Day 10: Boat trip to Hong island

Take a longtail boat (group or private) to Hong island. Swim and snorkel along the bright-coloured fish. Moreover, if you’re lucky enough you’ll also meet the monitor lizards :). Heading back to Ao Nang, don’t miss the quiet, awesome Hong Lagoon in the afternoon.

Day 11: Half-day trip to the Krabi Elephant Sanctuary

Spend a few hours learning about elephants. Feed them, wash them, you just have to love them!

Day 12: Beach day in Ao Nang

Beach day in Ao Nang + evening flight back to Bangkok. Finally, enjoy your last night with some cocktails at Octave Rooftop Bar in Bangkok.

Day 13: Bangkok – flight back home

Accomodation: Tivoli Hotel Bangkok 44€/2p/1night

Total price of the trip (including accomodation, flights and all other expenses): 1300€ each – more prices and detailed itinerary in future articles!

This was the our 2 weeks itinerary we designed for our first trip in Thailand. Of course there are many other worth-seeing landmarks in the country! We also had a few more places we wanted to include in our schedule which we simply gave up due to lack of time. All in all, we think this two-week timetable can be a great starting point for every one planning to travel here.
